Yelmer's 24 hours job at the circuit of Zolder
31-08-2011
The Veka Racing team is a regular competitor in the Dutch Super Car Challenge in which Jan Versluis currently lies fifth. In the weekend of 3 and 4 September the DSC will be incorporated in the 24 hours GT-race at the circuit of Zolder. The DSC-result however will be determined after 6 hours of racing. But few teams will park their cars in the garages then because there aren’t many occasions where you can race your car around the clock. For Yelmer this will be his second taste of a 24 hours race – he raced in the 24 hours of Dubai - just as for Jan Versluis. For both Shirley van der Lof and Peter Versluis though this will be their first experience of the ultimate of endurance racing. “I can hardly wait to start a racing engine again”, Yelmer smiles. “It has been way too long since my last Superleague Formula race mid July at the TT Circuit of Assen. I don’t fancy such long breaks”.
The 24 Hours of Zolder gets underway this coming Saturday at 16.00 hrs. The Ferrari 430 GT2 weighs only 1,100 kilo’s and is propelled by a 4 liter V8. In the street version however the motor measures 4.3 liter developing a healthy 483 HP. But due to the GT2 technical rules the capacity has been reduced to 4 liter.
